Hello September & Caring for Your Pets This Autumn

As we step into September, the seasons begin to change. The long days of summer slowly give way to crisp mornings, cooler evenings, and the first signs of autumn. For many of us, this is a beautiful time of year, but it also brings new considerations for our pets.

Here in the UK, September marks the start of conker season. While collecting conkers can be a fun autumn activity for children, it’s important to remember that conkers are toxic to dogs if chewed or swallowed. Keep an eye out on walks, and steer your pets clear of these tempting but dangerous seeds.

It’s also the time when fleas and ticks can be especially active. After the warm summer, these pests thrive in early autumn, so keeping up with preventative treatments is key to ensuring your pets remain comfortable and healthy.

The change in temperature can also affect older pets. Just as cooler weather can make stiff joints more noticeable in humans, our pets can also begin to feel the effects. Providing a warm, cosy bed and gentle exercise can help keep them comfortable as the seasons turn.

At Greenfields Pet Cremation, we understand that pets are family. We know how much love and care goes into every walk, every cuddle, and every moment spent together. As September reminds us of change, it’s also a gentle reminder to cherish the time we have with our beloved companions.

From all at Greenfields, we wish you and your pets a safe, happy, and healthy September.
